Make and Take Professional Development in Franklin County
presented by Harolyn Walker and Lynn Clark

FCRR Student Center Activities Professional Development and Make and Take were a great success.  We recently had the opportunity have grade level trainings with the FCRR student center materials.  Each grade level had a full day of professional development.  The FCRR training DVD’s were used during the training along with the Teacher’s Handbook and the notebooks that provide activities for the Fab 5.

Teachers learned how to get the best use out of their notebooks and how to use the crosswalks (the focus was the Dibels crosswalk) to pull activities based on the needs of their students.  Using their Dibels data they began to tab pages in their notebooks of the activities they thought would be most beneficial.  We also use the FCRR website and printed out the pages we wanted onto cardstock.  Teachers were immediately able to laminate and cut out their activities.  Each teacher walked away with between 5 and 10 activities ready for use in small group and/or centers.

At the end of each day the training took place, we, the reading coaches, received many thanks and appreciation for arranging the day for them.  Each time we meet with a group, they were excited and so very pleased with the many activities they took with them.
